I have finally finsished BFFM! What an undertaking that was. 300+ pages, all of them vital information, for sure.
So, I figured out my calories burned, my heart rate during exercise and calories in. Calories in is set at about 2300 and since my average calorie burn over the last month was 2853, I decided 2850 has a nice round ring to it.
I was measured by a different trainer today since mine was out. Wow, eithe I am up 3.5% BF or they measure very differently. Today's trainer didn't seem to pinch the calipers too tightly.
I was pretty good today. I ate mostly clean at 2000 cals, did both strength training, beginner workout from BFFM and 55 minutes of cardio today. Yeah. Gearing up for the food festivities tomorrow.
Tired, must.get.sleep.or.I.will.passout.

Sidelined...again
Put me on the DL for this week. Well, not disabled really, but really sick. I ended up with 102.3 fever this week and have not made it into the gym at all or done any cardio for my break at the office. I hope to feel better next week.

Positives for today
Ok, I didn't work out. I didn't eat clean. I did actually read a lot of the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle eBook I bought. Wow, it's an eye opener. For years, I've been shooting to weigh 145. It's based on BMI, which I know is useless. When I was on Weight Watchers, I did the math for what 26 BMI would be ad 145 was it for my height. Actually, when you set a weight goal, WW requires that the maximum be 26 BMI for women. Now that I know BMI is complete crap that tells you no more than the scale, I see the error of my thinking. I've read through chapter four of the BFFM book and it really resonates with me.
So from where I am now, still sitting at 227, I was shooting for an 82 lb weight loss. Now, I can see that would be unreasonable. My current skinfold reading is 33% body fat at 227 and 5'5". Doing the math, my fat lbs are 75 (74.91) and my lean body weight is 152. My bones, water and muscle are more weight than my old goal weight. See, that IS unreasonable.
So now, my goal is not based on weight or BMI, it's based on body composition. I am currently at 33% body fat. My 12-month goal is 16% body fat. Wow, that sounds really lean to me. If I feed the muscle and burn the fat (concept of the book...keep the muscle or lean body mass, and burn fat through exercise), I would be at 16% body fat at 180 lbs. Wow, that's very different from 145.
So, here's the daily goals: drink half my body weight in ounces in water everyday, eat six small meals each day (b'fast, lunch & dinner a bit bigger at around 400 cals & snacks around 200, which would put me around 1800 cals). Hmm, maybe that's not enough calories though, since I burn anywhere between 2400-3000 cals a day. Will have to try that to see if I can actually lose any weight. It might be too agressive of a calorie deficit.

Another day another workout, strength today
I worked out with my trainer James today. I told him it had been awhile since I'd done strength training and all the daily cardio I've been doing hasn't dropped a tenth of a pound in the last two weeks. Major bummer. I do love doing Turbo. I can feel that it tightens my muscles, but it hasn't helped me lose weight this month. You'd think with the number of calories I burn coupled with what I eat that I would be dropping the pounds, but it just ain't happenin'.
Stats for today are:
calories burned as of 9:30: 2741
steps taken: 11, 349
calories in: ??

Wow, has it really been since 10/28 that I blogged?
Oops, there goes my daily promise to myself. At least doing this blog does inspire and motivate me to move, which is wonderful. That's the whole point, right, to be accountable? Even though I have not been posting, I have been exercising.
Tonight, I did my cardio kick box in two sets, repeating a section and moving on when I returned home. As of 10:45, I burned 3167 calories today, walked 16, 418 steps. I did not log my calories, but I know dinner was 360, b'fast was about 400 with 2, 200 calorie snacks an lunch was about 480 calories, which is about 1640 cals about. So I ate about half the calories I burned today. I know this is not the best way to eat and I should eat more, but sometimes it's so hard to get all my calories in. I am not losing weight. I weighed in this AM at 227.2, exactly where I was when I started this blog a week ago. I know I need to eat more and get strength training in.
